Regarding Our Students' Absence Status
To correct the misconception that a medical report will be deducted from the absence criteria, the following information needs to be shared with our students.
Students are responsible for reading and understanding all relevant regulations and guidelines (Click to access the legislation).
Article 22, paragraph 3, of the Karabük University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations, titled "Compulsory Attendance," states that students can be considered on leave ONLY if participation in national team and interuniversity sports matches or cultural events is mandatory.
A medical report submitted by a student can be processed in ONLY two situations during the academic year. These situations are:
a) If the student becomes ill and is on sick leave during the midterm exam week: Make-up time is defined for midterm exams.
b) If the sickness and health report period exceeds 20 days: If the student is unable to attend classes during the sickness and health report period and will be absent from all classes in the relevant semester due to absence, the student will be considered on excused leave for the relevant semester to avoid losing their "maximum time" allowance, and their registration will be suspended.

Beyond these circumstances, submitting a health report to the Department Head or Dean's Office is meaningless, so there is no need for such a procedure.

The instructor responsible for a course ONLY identifies students who are in class and those who are not. The instructor does not have the authority to grant permission or process excuses for absences.

Therefore, student requests in such cases will not be fulfilled by the instructors responsible for the course.
