The Academic Council Meeting of the Türker İnanoğlu Faculty of Communication at Karabük University (KBÜ) in Safranbolu was held under the chairmanship of the Rector and Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr Fatih Kırışık.
The Goal of Becoming a Research University and Academic Performance
During the meeting, Rector Kırışık referred to the work being carried out by Karabük University in line with its goal of becoming a research university, noting that they had established a chain of policies across the university within the scope of this objective. Stating that they had taken significant steps in this process, Kırışık provided an assessment of Karabük University’s position in national and international rankings such as THE, QS, Webometrics and URAP. Highlighting that the Faculty of Communication possesses strong academic potential, Kırışık emphasised the importance of increasing scientific output and developing collaborative projects with academics from different faculties.
Emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Digitalisation in Communication
Noting that communication is one of the fundamental elements influencing virtually every field today, Rector Kırışık stated that digitalisation, social media and artificial intelligence have brought about significant changes in forms of communication. Kırışık emphasised the need to move beyond current communication methods and develop new models of communication and perception management, highlighting the importance of consultation, collaborative thinking and brainstorming in this regard.
Calling on academics to increase their scientific output, Kırışık stated that presenting original ideas in a concise, clear and direct manner in papers, articles and book chapters would contribute to the scientific output process.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Dean, Dr Bedirhan Karakurluk, and academic staff.
The meeting concluded with assessments regarding the enhancement of the academic output of the Safranbolu Türker İnanoğlu Faculty of Communication, the development of interdisciplinary collaborations, and the strengthening of work focused on the new understanding of communication shaped by artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
